Default weird weird problem... need help

ok, for the past 2 weeks iv been driving on the high way alot, and everyday, while im cruising in 5th gear the car like shuts off, feels and sounds like i just let off the gas.. i push the gas, nothing, no go and no rev, but when i push the clutch in and out its all good and i can keep driving
its like when ur going down the street and u turn ur car off going in what ever gear, and u put it to the "on" position and push the clutch and it starts back up... seems to be just like that

anyone ever heard of this? please help me

EDIT: i thought maybe it was the tranny cuz i just swapped it, and maybe it was slipping out of gear... but its not, it stays in gear and when i push the gas it doesnt even rev

maybe it has something to do with your ignition, like the switch or something...don't hold me to that, tho.

no, it seems as if the motor shuts off and moves into the "on" position, where everything is still on, and i push the clutch in and out and its started back up

Are your dash lights on??
And also are you keeping the cluth in when this happens???
B/c I was sure that if the engine goes off while you are in gear the engine will lock

So what I mean is that if you are in gear and the car goes off, I imagine the front tires will lock and stop the car.....Never happened to me so I'm not 100% on that....

the motor will not lock up if u turn it off while moving, itll just decelerate quickly... its not any gas problem, and yes the dash lights stay on, everything is on, except it seems like the motor shuts off

i hope you know after you start teh car the key is in the "on" possition all the time. And when you push in and let out teh clutch your simply roll starting it. but as for the problem i think its a short some where in the electrical sys. maybe your starter signal wire(?)

Default Hey Me Too! =)

Hey, you copied me, i have the same problem for about 6 months now.
And i have done everything i can, and cannot figure it out. And there is no certain pattern or weather that it dies in. I can be driving, no matter what gear i am in or speed, and it will die, lights will dim, and then i will press the gas to go, and nothing, so i have to turn the car off and start it while i am still moving, (just press the clutch in, and turn the key). Your does not slam to a stop if you turn your car off while driving, you will slow to a stop. i do it when i am coming home late at night so i don't **** off the neighbors with my exhaust. i shut it off, roll down a long *** hill and turn it back on right in front of my driveway, and into the garage.

it's a B16JDM in an Ek Hatch (97). If you ever figure out what it is, PM me. In the mean time Stop copying me!!

sounds like ignition problem. maybe a leaking injector, don't hold me on that neither. If you got an extra dizzy laying around see, try to see if it will work.

Maybe your blacking out for a split second and turning off your engine just before you regain conciousness...

I hope you already checked your starting system first. Make sure your battery is good and that the terminals are snug. This really sounds like a fuel system problem to me though. If it starts fine, like you say, your battery and ignition should be ok. Sounds like you need to make a trip to the dealership and get it checked out. If your engine is being starved of fuel it will shut off. Good luck.

NO! dont try to start the car with the key while you're moving. It'll grind the teeth of the starter and flywheel. JUST POP THE CLUTCH.
