Compression and leak down tests
i did my comp test in about 15 minutes. i havent done a leakdown and dont know what all is entailed.
1 - get compression tester from autozone for about $20
2 - remove all spark plugs
3 - lightly coat the threads of the comp tester with anti sieze
4 - screw comp tester into #1 cyl
5 - crank engine over 5 times
6 - take reading.
7 - repeat 3 times each cylinder then redo #1 (or which ever you first )

Correct me if i'm wrong, but shouldn't you also push
the pedal to the metal "
", while cranking it as well?
Also i think if you pull the fuel pump relay,
it won't dump fuel in the cylinders while your testing it.

if you pull the fuel pump relay why would you put the pedal to the metal?
i did neither. i just cranked it 5 times and read the gauge.

When I did mine a while back, i did it the same way as you.
But I know some people do it the other way ( at wot with the fuse pulled )
I can see what the helms says tomorrow on it

You should have the throttle wide open when doing the compression test., Other then that follow Doug's instructions.
A leakdown tester is like 70.00 - 100.00, IIRC. Basically you need to put the piston at TDC and you fill the cyl with compressed air. Then you monitor pressure loss via the tester
