Default 91 CRX DX converted to R134a problem

OK, I tried to search for this same problem and found no help.

The car had been converted to R134a sometime in the past. I had an intermittent problem. When the fan on it's highest setting, and in the recirculating mode, and it deathly hot in the middle of Summer in Atlanta, the compressor starts running as normal, and cools really well, but then after about 8-10 minutes, the compressor would cycle off.It would not come on again for between 10 and 20 minutes, then would run again for another 10 or so minutes, then cycle off again.
I checked the charge on it and it was *way* overcharged. I imagine someone else thought that simply adding more would fix it.
I checked the compressor and found that the bearing had spun on the shaft, so figured that was it.
I removed the compressor and installed a rebuilt unit with the correct amount of lubricant.I then charged the system correctly for a converted system (R12 systems hold less 134 than they do R12).I thought I had fixed it.
It started doing the same thing and continues to **** me off, so it figures it will be cold again before I will figure it out.
Is this an inherent problem with converted Honda systems like this?Is it likely the High-Pressure Switch (which I see on the line on the pass side of the engine bay)? Is it something under the dash? I hope to hell not. It looks like this thing is a pain to get at the stuff.

Any help is appreciated!

I retrofitted mt '91 CRX and never had a problem. Check the thermostat near the evaporator for proper operation.
