Default A/C ? Re:B16A1 into 91 CRX

Hello. I swapped a 91 SiR B16A1 into my 91 CRX Si. The AC worked fine before the swap, but ever since, it stopped blowing cold air. I checked to see if it was charged, and it is. I took it to Honda and they cannot deal with it for some BS reason. They said that they think it has to do with the computer or some electrical problem. Has anyone else had this type of problem? I need help ASAP, I'm dying in the Florida heat.

Thanks,
Jeremy

if you're sure it's charged (freon wise) but the air doesn't blow cold, it's the clutch in the compressor. Look down at your compressor and see if the clutch engages when you turn your a/c on. you can visibly see it when it engages.

EDIT: this seems to be a common problem on EF's...it's happened to both of mine. If you find out that the compressor is not coming on by checking the clutch on it, check the a/c compressor relay and see if it's still good. the relay went out on both of my EF's and would not allow the compressor to engage.

Thanks so much for the fast response. I actually talked to my dad and he said that the clutch for the compressor is the first thing we will check tomorrow. If the relay is bad, how do I go about fixing that?

no problem man..i just spent over 1K to get my a/c fixed..i know the feelilng about sweating. haha. Well, actually fixing the relay is just a plug in affair...i just don't know exactly how to TEST the relay. I think you need a voltmeter...i'm not exactly sure. but replacing it..that's easy. it's just like putting in a fuse kinda.

Wow, you're up pretty late/early...It's about 3:15am where I am. Once again, thanks for the quick response. That sucks that you had to spend that much money. I took it to Honda at 8:30 this morning...it sat there until 4:30pm when they finally decide to look at it. They claim that they cannot do ANY work on it because I have a different motor in it. If I really wanted them to do it, I'd have to pay them a minimum $210 just to tell me what's wrong. What an outrage...well I 'm going to bed...I'll check the boards again tomorrow. Goodnight.

Suffering from swamp a$$,

yeah it's like 2:15 or so here...

anyway man, as long as you got the compressor mounted good (with like a HASport mount or a Del Sol VTEC mount)....take it to an independent mechanic shop. that's what i did...honda told me the exact same thing...they're full of crap up there...
I have a b18b in my '92 but with a Del Sol VTEC bracket...so everything's 'OEM'.

anyway....yeah....if you and your dad can't figure it out, just take it to a regular ol shop....it cost me nothing for them to diagnose my problem...just had to pay for a new compressor, new dryer, new condensor, freon and all the labor but it was worth it.....i was suffering from swamp a$$ too

Good luck bro.

Still haven't gotten around to checking it. I've been bumming rides off of my friend who happens to have AC...hehehe. It's a SpecV Sentra with the AEM CAI AND AC! It's really nice. Well for those who really care, I'll keep you updated...
