Default I need Help from the Honda Gurus!!!!!

A family members car got a check engine light on his 2001 Civic LX and I got the following codes:

P0335(crankshaft position sensor A circuit malfunction)
P0336(crankshaft postion sensor A CKT range/perf)

My question is what needs to be done to correct this? Is it the Crank Position Sensor? Or is the timing off?

I changed the timing belt on this car about five months ago and it just started acting up. It is curently in limp mode and will not let it rev over 3K rpm. If the timing was originally off, then how would it run good for five months? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a 1997 Honda civic and had a TDC sensor check engine light.

Long Story short, I replaced the dissy to fix the problem.

I’m a novice here, so correct me if I wrong, but I was told. The TDC, cylinder 1 and crankshaft position sensor are all in the distributor, and parts are not sold separately. I did a basic tune up first to see if that would do it. Plugs, and timing, cap and rotor, but that didn’t do it, so I replace the distributor. Make sure to unplug the 7.5 amp fuse for 10 seconds to reset the check engine light.

check all fuses and connections to the crank sensor. It will go into limp mode if no signal is found, or a malfunctionting sensor. the timing belt didnt cause the problem. something is wrong with the sensor. I dont want to throw parts but if you cant find a wiring problem then replace the sensor. i'm betting a bad ground or its become disconnected somehow.

This is a 2001 civic LX and it has no dizzy. It has individual coils and the Crankshaft position sensor is located right behind the crank pulley. I dont know what to check. All the grounds are good. The connector plugs in tight. The only thing I can think of is the sensor has taken a crap. Thanks for any help.

Yes I did reset the codes and they came back on right away. Also how would the ignition timing affect the CPS if it were misfireing? Thanks!
