my stupid timing belt is rubbing somewhere also. I notice on the cam gears that it sits a tiny bit off of the edge.

It should not be rubbing. If it is sliding off the cam gear and rubbing on the side, get it fixed ASAP as it will only get worse.

Im not driving it at all right now. When I start it up I can here it rubing slightly
when it gets warm and the idle drops the noise goes away only does it at 9 to 1000 rpms. I pul the valve cover and the belt isn't hanging off the gears at all. it looks fine. i'll take pics this weekend.

is there actual wear on the belt that you can see? if theres not then i tend to think that its not hitting the valve cover, mine hangs off the gears slightly( like 1-2mm) but i dont see any rub marks on the belt at all
