I already have a p72 ,so My ecu option is selected. My question is can I have it chipped by someplace like Erik's Racing And then latter switch it over to a hondata set up?? I ask because I want the hondata But cant afford the 600 dolar price tag right now. For 150 I can get it chipped and I need SOMETHING to run my motor right now. (I have no stock ecu nor any interest in one)

solid-technology can set up something for you. pm firedrake or check out their site http://www.solid-technology.com Seaches here can also turn up some ecu tuning options. Basically the internal integra program on a P72 doesn't run a prelude engine very well so you need to "chip" the ecu, which means to install a socket and a few electronic parts so the ecu can run an external rom chip. "chipping" an ecu sometimes also refers to installing the external rom chip. For the rom you can get one from somewhere like ebay, use uberdata or similar (hondata). Obviously a rom tuned specifically for your car is ideal, but you should be able to find something that will get you going.
The terminology can be inconsistent and confusing, but basically the ecu is the computer and the rom is the program. Chip can refer to the physical electronic part that installs into the ecu, or the program that is stored on a chip. Make sense? Hondata is a little different in that they have a hardware copy protection scheme, and can let you datalog etc. with some versions. The hondata site has some tech info on it. Good luck.
