16 valve 1.5 cam broke need help new to honda's
noob here .... just bought a 94 honda civic 4 door with i guess a d15 1.5 16 valve had it for a week and the cam broke.. dont know why this happend ? is this known on these motors , it broke on the side closest to the timeing belt.... would it be worth the time just to replace the cam or replace the whole head to make sure none of the valves droped threw a piston ? also i have a 1.6 out of a 90 or 91 crx ... if i need to would this head work ? thank you in advance
is your crx head off of an Si????? and if it is in good working condition it would probably be easiest for you to put this head on your 1.5L motor. by doing this you can continue to use your stock ECU. you will not have to do any wiring mods, and you will be able to inspect the inside of the motor a little bit. you will want to search around and see what timing belt to use with the 1.6L head but it is common to use the belt that correlates with the head. so A6 head=A6 timing belt. also you will need a new headgasket which will be about $30, the timing belt $30 and an IM gasket which is in the $10-20 range i believe. hope that helps a little
yes it is out of a si ... thank you for your help .. with this head would it make a difrence in power or be about the same ? right now im just loking for a quick fix but plan to do some mods over the winter .. mabye like a b16 swap....

the A6 motor put out 2hp more from the factory than the b7 but there is stipulation that it came from displacement. the cam is supposedly a little better in the A6 but you will probably not be able to feel it on the ***

if you do indeed have a d15b7...then yes it will work fine.
the a6 is the same head casting as the b7.
the cam is different between the two...you may need to get an adjustable cam gear because the cam timing will be off since the deck heights of the d15 and d16 differ. i think its 1/2 a tooth off (something like 3 degrees). i would think you could still use the b7 timing belt, not the a6, since your not chanigng the length requirements....but i may be wrong - search around for stuff about putting an a6 cam in a b7.
