Ok, just got the itr and have a few questions. Thanks
1)I took the top off my air box and it makes vtec much louder, is this ok?
2)Do vtec controllers help, seems like the vtec cross-over would make the car faster if it was lower.
3)WHat does the 30K mile maintence include?(is that part of the warranty)

1. Yes its ok, buit the hotter air will make your car LOSE HP.
2. with other mods yes, not necessarily faster, just a more linear power delivery.
3.Change Oil, Adjust valves, Coolant flush, tire rotation, fluids topped off, chassis lube, spark plug replacement, dist, rotor, cap replacement? etc.. Acura will give you a list if you ask them.

1) If you're just looking for noise, removing the cover is fine as long as you pay close attention to the condition of your filter. It will get dirty much faster. It isn't making any more power, and you may (will) have some losses. You can get a similar effect from removing the resonator, or going to a filter-on-a-stick (loudest option other than ITBs).
2) If you set the VTEC x-over too low, your cams aren't spinning fast enough to benefit from the increased airflow. You'll just bog if you set a stock motor to 3,000, for example. Many setups actually benefit from an increase in the x-over point, like a TODA Spec. C setup for example. If your R is stock, leave the x-over point where it is.
3)I also don't know.

Whether or not you have Acura perform the 30K maintenance, be sure to check your valve lash. I believe it's a 15K maintenance issue. I waited until 29K to check mine, and my valves were INCREDIBLY loose, 7 to 8 times more than the +/- .02mm range. It was unreal how loose they were.
