I'd say so, just bevel it so you can get at every part of the break. Also, distortion is going to be a bitch, so make sure that its set up pretty good before you weld it up, last thing you'd want is to just tack something together and weld it, then find out that its angled and won't fit anymore.

i would agree with the above post. I am not sure how confident your welding skills are but , posistion of the broke piece is going to be critical.

i don't think i would weld it and trust it. i work on lots of trannies and see this all the time. i just replace the part. the postion is very critical...you could have shifting/staying in gear problems unless it's dead on. make sure you prep it good/bevel it and find a way to keep it flat. i think i got couple of those in my pile. pm me if you are interested.

The part costs about $220 CAD. Shoud I weld it or just replace it?

Sorta OT, but I don't even work on Honda transmissions or get a chance to see the internals very often, and the part pictured here has got to be the biggest joke Honda has ever played on us. I've now seen that same part broken 3 times in almost the exact same fashion, and I've only seen the insides of about 6 transmissions.

maybe before it breaks, reinforce it with some bar and welds.

yeah this can and will break in a perfectly good tranny as i've seen numerous times...just leaving you out of every gear or stuck in one.

*yeah i still have couple of these changer mechanisms.

Dont weld it, if it doesnt hold up and leaves shreds of metal in your transmission you are chancing it putting some serious wear on some of the gears and synchros. Get a new one, I had a broken shift fork in my tranny, everyone told me to weld it.. I didnt, I got a new one. Works cherry, and the best part is I can drive it without having this little worry in the back of my head that something internal to my transmission could go at any time....

get a new one, be safe while your have the tranny apart right now
