Will a 2001 OEM stereo fit into a 1995???

I have the opportunity to purchase a OEM stereo off of a 2001 Integra LS for real cheap. It has the front loading CD, which I feel is a great thing to have. It's also looks very clean and still under warranty.
Anyone with a late 1995 knows that the only way to play CDs are to load them in the trunk of the car. (I have a sedan) Which is the main reason I don't play CDs.
I'm hoping the 2001 LS stereo is a stright fit into my 1995 GS-R. If it all works out, the 2001 OEM stereo will let me play CDs without the antenna coming up. I think that most would agree, that if you just want to play a CD, the antenna should stay down. If some one out there in syber space knows, please chime in...
Peace
TQ

It will fit, but if you do want to play a CD, the antenna will still come up. The antenna will come up whenever you turn on the stereo (CD or AM/FM) unless you bypass it using these instructions:

I have a front loading CD player from a stock GS-R (I was TOLD it was from a 95) in my teg.
In any case it didn't give me any problems, either you *can* have front loading in dash CD players in older tegs or it is in reality from a newer car, but either way it worked fine.
the CD unit is manufactured by Pioneer by the way, along with the radio unit (although the one i had in the car was originally made by Panasonic...hmmm...) the CD player worked with both (it attaches via a cable on the back).
I think your only concern would be to make sure the connection for the wiring harness is the same. If that is the same, there's no reason it woudlnt' fit.

Thanx for all your fast replies fellow Tegger's;
The person who's selling me the unit use to install stereos for a living. He just upgraded his stereo, speakers and sub wolfer in the hatch.
So, decided to let me have his OEM 2001 stereo for like $50.00 with free installation. I should have this project done be the end of the day.
purplegsr, that looks like a good idea, but, where would I have the button installed? It would seem that I'd have to do some cutting some where to install the button. If you or some one have a picture I can look at, I might want to give this a try...

I would pop out one of the plastic coverings on the center console by the e-brake, just run the wire from the radio behind the ash tray and cig lighter, cup holder, around the shifter and have it come out through one of those 2 plastic square holes below your armrest. I would use a square button though, it would fit in that space better.

Hey purplegsr;
After looking at the picture of the off switch for the antenna you posted from Team Integra. I've decided this'll be my next stereo project.
One more question on this subject purplegsr, where can I find a square switch that'll fit one of the four holes I got under the lower sides of the hand brake.
My interior is tan, I know, yuck! But to tell the truth, I like my dark green exterior with the leather tan interior.
And on a short note, I got the 2001 LS stereo with the front loading CD installed this afternoon. Wow! It's great to just grab a cd, stick it in and enjoy and change it without having to deal with the trunk loader.
The cool thing is, I can still load the trunk loader and use both the front loader along with the trunk loader.
Either it's just my imagination or the 2001 stereo sounds louder, like it may have more watts or something, or I just need to get use to it.
Well, anywho, I'm really glad I went ahead and did the the swap, I couldn't be happier with the results...
Peace

I don't know any buttons that come in tan, but you could just go to Pep Boys and see what they have. I know most of their buttons come in square forms, a lot of them look kinda ricey though - they tend to be clear blue or red when off, and lighted when on.
I would be inclined to find a button on the interior of your car (like the hazard button or defrost button) that you like, order a replacement from acuraparts247.com or something, and try to fit that button in and just paint it or scrape off any markings. You could also try getting a normal toggle switch (metal switch with plastic base) and just paint the metal part black. I don't think that would look bad.

Yes, it should fit fine. All of the 92-93 tape decks are exactly the same as the 94-97 tape decks, so I bet the 98 CD decks will fit in a 92 as well.

thanx for the info, I guess I'll just have to check places like Radio Shack and Fry's and maby I'll get lucky and find a black square button.
If that doesn't work, I'll try and order one from acuraparts247.com. I'll just have to wait and see how it all turns out, but I'll for sure be intalling an antenna cut off switch.

Dang! I don't know what the difference is with an Accord stereo and the Acura sereo, but I got the the front loading Acura stereo installed yesterday afternoon.
After I got it installed, I couldn't wait to try out the CD. I had the radio off and slipped in a CD, as soon as i did that, the antenna came right up! Guess I'm going to have to go with antenna cut off switch.
Anywho, the front loading Acura AM/FM CD player looks really clean as in OEM and I'm very happy with the swap.
sabotage7 thanx for chimming in

Yes, this is correct. All of the actual measurements for the head units are about the same, but you do need to use a new wiring harness or splice some wires (messier). Here are the specs on both types of harnesses:
