Help!!! Accord with H23 head swap died today =(
Ok I need help because this is getting ridiculous. I was driving down the road and the car popped as if something (like a belt) broke then the car died. When I tried to turn it over the starter turns but the car won't start.
I don't think its anything internally wrong because the car was running great. The altenator belt was fine I pulled the valve cover off and the timing belt was still nice and tight.
The cams were still lined up perfectly. When I pulled the distributor cap off the rotor was still in place, but when I try to start it, the motor just turns over.
What thoughts, if any since my car's been sitting for 2 months prior to me getting it running a week ago? I've put about 200 miles on it since then now this.
Grrrrrr!!!!

Are you getting any spark? After cranking it does the exhaust smell like gas? what condition are the plugs? are they fouled with fuel? You might look at the fuel filter if it has been sitting for a long time, you might have gotten some water in your gas and maybe it rusted.

Fuel filter was fine... I put over 200 miles on it since I got it running about 2weeks ago actually. I don't know why it would just die. I will have to check the plugs tonight and see what they look like. Not sure about exhaust smell either.
Run a diagnostic on the ECU and see if it's throwing any codes.
Do you have anoyone that might swap ECU's just for a test? And check your fuses.

Sorry for the late response... No the cams were not spinning the crank pulley bolt backed out and caused the timing to jump off. going to assess the damage now and see if the head got damaged. I hope not though...
Damn that really sucks. Did you pull the head? Id the block ok? What did you torque the pulley bolt to? 159ft/lbs right? H23 heads should be pretty cheap. There area few people parting out blown H23's.
