Default back end sliding in the rain

ok maybe someone can help me figure this out.

heres the problem:

i just recently put 2 195/55/R15 (michellin xgt vr4 v4 or something like that) on the back of my car and the front currently has 195/60/R14 (haven't gotten tires for my other 2 rims) the other night i was driving in the rain and turned on a corning like i would usually do (not like i would if it was dry) and the back end of my car ended up sliding. then tonight it happened again. i also noticed that this only happens when the turn is on a small down slope. now could this be because the tires in the back aren't good in the rain and the front might be better.. or is it something to do with my suspension?

this never happened when i had my hx's on (front: 185/60 rear: 195/60)

try to listen for a screech on dry ground when you make turns
your aligment might be off in the rear
look at your tires for unusual wear

EDIT: Try to get the right sized tires for the entire car and see if this still happens.

Note that if your tires are fine and your suspension is stock...and you're STILL having your back end slide out:

(Just throwing on a set of springs, I still consider that "stock")

You're doing something wrong. A stock factory setup will NOT oversteer unless you do something wrong such as throttle lift on a turn or brake on a turn. Try to keep your pedal pressure steady throughout the turn. Don't brake or lift your throttle too roughly.

I'm not flaming, just trying to help you out. All those old driver's ed classes where they tell you to brake before a turn and whatnot applies heavily during wet conditions like this. It applies even more to RWD cars.

also, if those michelins are the stock wheels that came on your integra, that could be the reason, because they really suck

Sounds like he has the stock tires on the rear but if they have a decent amount of thread they still shouldnt be sliding.. especially at low speeds

Those Michelin stock Honda tires suck a lot. They are horrible on dry roads but even worse in the rain. Most likely your front tires are still sticking and the back ones are losing grip. Try running 4 of the same tires and the same damn size rims. Also, do you have any suspension work on your car? A bad suspension set up might be adding to this problem.

suspension is currently:

neuspeed front upper strut bar, tokico blues, h&r race springs, neuspeed rear lower tie bar.

i do happen to have bad caster in the front though that i'm in the process of fixing. also i think the tires in the back just suck. i'm gonna try putting those in the front when i pick up another set of tires for my other 2 rims this thursday.

we'll see what happens then. thanks for all the feed back

Your suspension setup is fine, and would not cause the condition you described. And negative camber is only going to improve handling, not make it worse. I think your back tires are to blame. New tires tend to be very slippery in the rain until they get worn in a bit...

they're "okay" as long as the tread is in excellent condition. but drive enthusiastically with them on anything but new tread and you'll give yourself quite a scare. those things hydroplane like mad.

caster isn't adjustable on DAs i never said anything about major caster adjustment... just gotta see if i can move the crossmember just a little bit... and probably get some opm radius rod bearings or something.
