Ticking noise from RS*R cat-back?
Hey guys, I recently got the RS*R cat-back from Alan (Alternative) a couple of weeks ago. I have noticed that after the gets driven (gets hot), theres a ticking noise that comes from the exhaust. I think its the exhaust pipes. The sound is similar to the ticking sound a car makes after you the the engine off. I heard its caused by the metal (maybe in the cat) cooling down. But the sound from my car is much louder and I hear it when the car is still runnig. I have the drag kit with no cat. Any ideas what is causing the noise?
Could be the stickers on the exhaust if they havn't burned off yet.
You might have to breakin the exhaust maybe?
It got mine, didn't experience anything but stinky smell on the stickers burning off.

Could it be the heat shield scratching the pipes. I had that problem in my RS*R. Also if you got a 98+ integra does the tip not line up with the indention on the bumper? Mines is a little off.
Thanks

Never knew you had to break in the exhaust?? Stikers? Hmmmm maybe but i doublt it.... If it is then the sound should go away after it burns off? How long does that take? I got the 70 degree tip. I have a 95 gsr, sorry. It can't be the heat sheild because that would be a rattling sound. Mines more of a ticking noise. A loud "TICK" sound every once in a while.

I have the 70 degree stainless rsr also and mine ticks whenever it is hot. It is a normal thing that the classic rsr's do. I have had mine for almost 2 years and it ticks whenever it is hot. I have heard it has something to do with the metal they use expanding and cooling.

Yeah... the exhaust doesn't match up quite right, supposedly because it was designed for the JDM GSR, but with some longer bolts you can use the play in the flanges to make it fit. It definitely makes more noise than the stock unit as it cools down, but this will not cause any problems.
I got one too from the same guy. I think I know what your problem is.
Look under your muffler, and look at the passenger side rubber hanger. Notice how there are two hooks. You need to cut one off.
New exhaust tend to have a burning smell, but this goes away after a few days.
I don't think they get quieter over time.
