Default Pioneer indash monitor help

I don't know if anyone here knows anything about indash monitors but I just installed my Pioneer AVX-P8DVD. It works great except for the fact that I don't know how to control the volume. My Dad and I both read the manual over and over again and couldn't find anything about it. I don't see any settings on the monitor itself for it. The remote has controls for the volume but they won't work for some reason, everything else on the remote works though. Anybody know whats wrong?

What do you mean by AVX is a add on? Do you mean that I have to have another head unit?

Three System Connection Methods:
IP-BUS MODE: Direct connect to any Pioneer IP-Bus equipped headunit (no touch control)
TOUCH (IP-BUS) MODE: When connected to a 2004 Pioneer IP-Bus headunit featuring “Wired Remote Input”, use the Touch Panel to control headunit features
STANDALONE MODE: Allows connection and operation with any headunit that features an auxiliary input
IP-Bus Input/Output

looks like u need a pioneer head unit to control the volume thru ip bus, or you can use any headunit with and aux input .

basically it has no internal amp and just one aux output , that you would have to use a headunit with an aux in , and control the volume through that. I much rather get there new headuints with the wired remote feature so u can use the touch screen controls to control the radio

any more questions just ask

And if I do add a regular head unit I am going to be able to control my volume?
