Default Weld Water Tracks? Good or Bad?

Just had a question that if we mig weld the water tracks on the top of a 94 civic and then grind the welds down and fill in the inperfects if I will have stress fractures after painting from body sway? I have seen people that just molded them fully in with just bondo and fiberglass resin and it cracked after painting. Has anyone ever done this before?

Here's what we did on my DA...

Took the original track and put some of that badass epoxy that u buy at the body shop... I forget the name, it's been sooooo long. Anyhow, it came with a special caulk gun too and everything... anyhow, it's "just like a weld" and it worked like a charm in the spots that u couldn't weld (it's plastic.) Anyhow, grind down the track part in the roof so that it will stick.. . put it down, put the liquid weld stuff in it... fill it up with fiberglass...

Hasn't cracked yet... it's been 'bout 3 years now.
