Default b20vtec w/ buddy club 3+ dyno

i had my car tuned w/ a set of buddy club specT (3+) . i was looking to find a cam that would make the most of my setup with out having to rev beyond 8000rpm. im runing around 12.5 to 1 comp and have stock sleeves . these cams made some nice mid-range but id be lying if i didn't say i was hoping for more top end. my setup is in my sig .

this is a link to my dyno chart
http://www.tamparacing.com/gal...18124

i can never get my pics to post.
enjoy......

IMO those are some pretty damn goo numbers. Do you think that you might actually have too much compression for those cams?

Here is the graph:

Graph looks fine to me, very nice midrange!. What exhaust do you have from the header back?

thanks for putting up the pic. im not sure if the comp is to high. i just think the cam maxed out at 7500. i had sk2 s2 and made 215 at 8400 but tq was around 145. this is not a true comparison due to some other part changes. i just wasn't looking to rev to 8500 + to make peak. so i went with these to get some extra mid range.

Gaining over 10 wtq while only loosing around 8 whp is ok in my book.

what kind of reinforcement do u have done to the block. 8500 on a B20. isnt that kind of dangerous because of the thin sleeves?

8500 is pretty much the limit i would say, but the force the sidewall is experiencing at this RPM is still less than a boosted setup.

we set the dyno up for 8200 red line. i will not be reving this high due to power falling off at 7800. no reinforcement but rotating assembly is balanced.

this is why i opted to go with these cams.

just a thought, but, when you hog out the plenum the way that you did, isn't it true that if you increase the airflow that much, that extensive headwork(which you already have) and a high lift cam are necessary to achieve a mad top end charge? the tq on your motor is monsterous, but, i think that you setup is designed for high revs. to be honest, i'd love that kind of power. even though the skunk2's make more whp up top, i'm sure the bc's have a much broader powerband.

well you are right. at one time top end was my goal and then i decided to make power in a more usable area without puting my block at risk. this was my daily driver. the worst part of it is right after i finished the build i bought a second car and now im looking to make it more of a track car. sleeving is in the near future and then ill go with some top end cams. i was very interested to see what these BC3+ would do in a motor like mine. now i know. ill be keeping an eye on the new BC4's

the one thing that suprised me about these cams was even with the big primary lobes my vtec cross over was 4900rpm. i thought it was going to be 5500 at least.

Nice numbers. You could go with a little wilder cam and still have a pretty broad powerband with that compression.
