Default Sunroof maintenance tips?

Well, it's probably no secret... I'm much more a n00b than I am a mech (but hey, at least I'm honest)...

I've got a '95 Prelude VTEC, and I don't believe the sunroof tracks, internals, etc. have ever been cleaned, freshly lubed, etc. Not sure that I really want to take the beast apart, but would definitely like to improve its current operations (it's starting to bog down, takes a good 15 seconds for it to close).

Any recommendations for 'safe' cleaners and lubricants (i.e., guessing something other than wd-40)?

Thanks!

I just opened mine & wiped out the tracks with a rag, and sprayed some teflon spray grease on the tracks & rollers. Works like new now.

Hmm, the teflon spray definitely sounds like the right direction - thanks.

A rag though... don't think it's gonna get it done. Perhaps a chisel, lol. Seriously, seems more like a toothbrush & 'degreaser' kinda job. Safe enough if some of it reaches the internals??

Simple Green & a toothbrush were the other half of the answer. Like you said, running like new. Thx for the teflon spray lube tip.

mine wasn't really gunked up..... there just wasnt any lube in there at all. Lube'er up! Glad i could help.

I dont mean to hijack your thread, but my windows shudder when i roll them down especially when wet. My guess is either a lube issue, or maybe my window tint? The film isnt that thick... 20% Thanks!

I have no tint on my car but my windows so the exact same thing. Power windows here. They might need some lube for sure.
