This'll be a first for me, I 've decided to change out the oil and oil filter myself, for the frist time in my life. I'm really excited and I'm looking forward to this experience!
First thing, I'll be ordering a case of Hamp or S2K oil filters come Monday. I'll also pick up at least 5 quarts of Castrol full synthetic (Syntech) oil.
The last thing on the list other then what tools I'll need for this first time operation, is drain plug washers. Drain plug washer are new to me, at least I've never heard of them. Being that this is the first time I'm doing the oil change myself.
Is it necessary to change out the oil drain plug washer with each oil change? If so I'll need to order as many of the DPWs as oil filters?
Last but, not least, what tools will I need to carry out this small project correctly? Once I get this done, I hope to do other maintenance myself in the future.
Thanx in advance...

they are like 25 cents at the daeler...juist find out what size it is actually post it here cuz I'm gonna do my oil change wiht some friends next weekend and will need to buy some
you dont need to change the oil drain plug washer everytime. the reason they tell u to change it is because it gets squashed when you tighten the plug. i change mine every 2 or 3 times. theres people who never change them and they never have a problem with oil leaks. but for 25cents each, just change it every 2-3 times.
youll need a socket set and they make an adaptor for the socket handle that allows you to take off ur oil filter. any strauss, pep boys, auto zone, etc. carries them for like 4 bucks. youll also need a jack, jackstand, oil pan, and rags.

Worrddd... theses all you need btw dont forget to put some oil on ur new oil filters around the rubber gasket of it.. and remember just hand tight, or else it will be a bitch to take it of on ur next maintenance..!!!!
Note: do it smart and safe (put some jack stands & put it correctly the jack and stands.)

Thanx Orangebarius and Njandrewg coming to my aid so fast!
I'm thinking to order the drain plug washers at the same place I oder the oil filters.
I guess it wouldn't hurt to order as many DPWs as OFs just to have them available for future oil chances. When I order them tomorrow, I'll be sure to get the part number and post it here.
I'll be ordering from one of two places on the intra net, for the HAMP OFs;
http://www.ipsracing.com/engin....html
And for the S2K OFs;
http://www.manhonda.com/ap/ind...tab=0
I'll order the same amount of DPWs as OFs from either one of this two places tomorrow morning.
Once again thanx!

you will need a jack 2 jack stands a 13mm wrench and maybe a oil filter strap wrench. when you put the filter back on, make sure you put new oil around the seal, and thet you only HAND TIGHTEN IT. some people think they have to wrench this damn thing on but you dont. then put the drain plug in. use another cruch washer on it. there like a quarter. then just put the oil in and turn the car on. turn the car back off and look under the car for leaks. if none then take it back off the jack stands and your good. if there are, then check your plug and filter again.. if its from the filter then look at the other filter and make sure the seal came off with that one. if not then you double sealed it and thats not good. then you have to take the new filter off and remove the second seal. anyway good luck and hopefully you change your mind and use either AMSOIL or MOBIL 1.....
FYI, drain plug is 17mm, not 13....
And if you go to the dealer to get washers, they will probably GIVE them to you, i have some around the house from work, we use the hell out of them (at the dealer, we replace them w/ every oil change). the 3-clawed style O/F wrench that goes on a ratchet seems to work best on our cars, with the limited space to remove the filter and all....
I change oil (among other things) on hondas all day, and i still think it's fun, so have a blast, and be careful
!

When I used to buy OEM Honda filters (by Filtech) they would always give me a crush washer with it. Now I use STP oil filters, changed once a month (that's how often I drive 3K miles
). Almost 2 years ago I ordered a bunch of tune-up stuff from Carland Acura, and at the same time bought 20 drain plug washers at 20 cents each I think. FYI the transmission drain plug uses the same washer.
Jack
Jackstands
my ghetto wooden ramps to get my jack under the car because it's so low
17mm wrench
sandpaper to loosen the oil filter
drain pan
funnel
oil
filter
drain plug washer
paper towels
mechanix gloves
That right there is all that I use every time.

damn, some grease monkey probably stripped your original drain bolt at some point in your car's history, and replaced it with another bolt w/ a 13mm head.
There isn't a single bolt on the Integra that is 13mm, everything is either 8, 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, and the occasional 32mm, and whatever the block coolant drain bolt is, 21 or 22 maybe.
