Default degreeing a camshaft

I have the pro degree kit and had a few questions.

how do you set 'zero' valve lash? set it to the manufacture's lash rating or at a different rating?

where exactly does the dial indicator go? on the retainer? camshaft lobe? does anyone have a picture to help me out here?

i understand howthe process is done, i am just a little unsure about the zero valve-lash and indicator positioning for 50 thouh of valve opening.

You tighten down the valve lash all the way until you have no space between the rocker arm and valve so you cant even fit a .001 feeler guage in there.

You can do it at zero lash or at manufacturers suggested lash to get the real numbers. The dial indicator is put on the retainer to measure .050" lift.
Remember, you need to engage the vtec or you will be degreeing the wrong lobe.
