I wouldn't use the ls tranny with that engine, I would go with a y1 s1 or ys1.

ETs are dependent on SO much more than HP. But all other factors being equal, a B17A would probably run similar times to a B16A. Possibly a little better.

i have a b17 crx. im using the s1 tranny and i'm thinking about swapping an LS 5th gear for highway use. i would also stay clear away from the LS tranny unless your running on the salt flats. shorter the final the better at least for the 1/4. if you have the b17 tranny use that one for sure. its one of the most hunted trannys because they are so similar to the Type R. im also running a chipped p28 and hondata s200 with a b17 map. runs awesome.

I haven't run at the track with this motor yet, but once i do i'll post up some times. im hoping to be in the low 14s high 13s the times should be close to the b16.

soo should i get a b17 for $800? its missing tranny, shift linkage, and mounts. and its a private seller...if its going to be like a b16 i dont think i want it....rather save up for h22,does it require alot of custom work for a h22? or is the money to it better to be spend on a b18c1

the B17 is a great motor... anyone that has one usually won't let it go. for that price i would pick it up. they make great power.... im making 161.7 with 119 ft/lbs or torque with i/h/e cam gears and hondata. my motor is very heathly. If anything its the best option for now...and a b17 will beat out b16s with the same mods...hands down.

i say pick it up until you can afford the h22 since that swap will require ALOT more work and $$$.

Unless those adaptor plates here are for real, an H22A swap is going to be cut and weld. But a B17A will drop right in.

i have a b17a1 swapped hatch, just ran this friday night. only mods are a 2.25'' mandrel bent exhaust with magnaflow muffler. Rear seats removed. I ran a 14.93 @93.1 mph with a 2.208 60'. My first time drag racing though, I'm not sure what times I should be running.

I can attest to JAREDH motor^, it runs damn strong and it has 150K on it. It made my 15 year old b16 look stupid on the highway.

my b16 kicked the bucket a few months back so i picked up a b17. this kid had it laying in his leaky shed for months ... some people just don't know what they have. its the strongest motor i have had yet.

for $800 buy that motor.... thats a good deal if it ran correctly before it was taken out of the car. then when you are more comfortable you can drop it in. Its really not that hard once you start to do it. buy a manual and read along while you take out the motor.

The US spec 90-93 L.S. trannies were also labeled "S1".

Have u actually tryed running the LS trans on the B17? It isnt all that bad as people make it out to be. I am running a 93 LS YS1 right now with my B17 and i beat B16's (same mods) with J1/S1 trannys all day long. I dont walk all over them, but i do pull away nicely (tryed it both on streets and freeway). I have a Y1 with LSD in the garage so we'll see how that works out in the near future.

I'm sure it isn't that bad, but if you want to go fast quick you run a tighter final drive like a JDM s1 y1 ys1 because they have a tighter final drive and that will send you down the 1/4 faster. The tighter the final drive it the faster your going to get to your max speed for that gearing. the longer final will allow you to go faster over a longer period of time....hence the salt flats.
