smoke coming out the exhaust everytime I start my car?
Everytime I start my car, there is smoke that comes out my exhaust. After about 2 to 3 seconds later the exhaust is fine and there is no smoke at all. Does anyone else experience this or can anyone tell me why this happens.

hey guys,
Rule of thumb on engine smoke conditions
Pure White smoke: Coolant
Black smoke: Rich gas mixture(unburnt gas)
Blueish white smoke: Oil burning
Based on how it clears up, id say your burning a little bit of oil when you crank it up... if youve ever been somewhere and saw someones old car or pickup start, and you saw some blueish smoke come out, then clear up... Thats a light oil consumption problem.
You didnt post the mileage of the car, but im guessing the vehicle has some miles on it?
I might be guessing the wrong option here, but the key thing is, to really get a good look at the smoke... Have someone crank it up while you stand out back.. Get a good look at the color of the smoke.

Is it only on cold startup, or every startup? If it's only on cold startup, your valve guide seals are going bad. When the engine sits for a long time, some oil leaks down past the seals into the combustion chamber, and burns up when you first start it. After the engine has run for a bit, the seals warm up and expand, making a better seal. It's not a serious issue really, but just remember to replace them if you ever have the head off the car for whatever reason.

I'm probably running rich when I start up the car because that's what my air/fuel guage is showing me. Then it slowly goes back to idle after a couple of seconds later.
