Whats wrong with my dads accord...Please help!
Ok, my dad told me the other day that his accord has been acting up...When you turn the key to the on posistion none of the warning lights will come on, but it will start. You can wiggle the key alot and the lights will come on...He also said that it has been going dead on him when he is driving, but it will start back up...i told him it could possibly be the ignition switch...Please reply quickly, i would hate for him to be stranded this being his only form of transportation...All help is appreciated
battery, alternator, bad grounds, starter, it could be anything. my honest guess is alternator or battery starting to go bad.
thanks for the quick replies...It couldnt be a bad battery or alt. because he has perfect power...Ive checked all grounds and fuses...its just that the warning lights dont come on sometimes unless you wiggle the key. Itll either go dead on him while driving and then when he tries to start it, it will go dead again and then eventually stay started.

That part leads me to believe alternator. If his car dies wouldnt you consider that a loss of power?

lol yeah, but when it goes dead all the power functions work like the radio and lights...Just the car dies

Ok, just went outside and noticed that when the ignition is in the on posistion and the warning lights dont come on the radio will work and lights but the power windows will not...I can wiggle the key to get the warning lights to come on and whalaaa the power windows will work.
That happened to my womans 4th gen a while back and it was the harness. Im not sure if that is what it is on your dads. 6th gen right?
I checked the harness and i didnt see any loose wires or anything...Im gonna replace the switch and harness and see if that fixes it...Thanks for the help
its a 5th gen.
its a 5th gen.
dude, what year is the accord. That would help a bunch cause the 6 gen accords do have a recall on all auto 4 cyl. though i'm not sure if this applies for the v6 regarding the ignition. Give your honda a call if it's a 6 gen. Hope u figure it out.. peace.
