JDM ITR - No spark - Help
Im having a bit of trouble with my friends 97 JDM ITR.
His car died on the freeway, only doing about 30mph. As soon as I came out to him I relaised there was no spark so swapped his distributor with mine to get the car home. So we had figured it was a distributor problem so I ran the tests as per the manual.
Coil checked out just fine, correct resistance on A&B and the terminal with the spring were all as per the manual. So then I tested the ignitor wiring as per the manual and it checked out so the conclusion was that the ignitor was toast which is what the manual says.
Fitted another good ignitor today and the car still would not start. So then I started to suspect the coil again.
I took his coil out and tried it in my distributor on his car and the car would not start so it seem that his coil was actually shot.
Has anyone ever found that a coil tests good in a bench test exactly to Honda's manual spec but the thing is actually not working? This has me really puzzled.
We are in Ireland and Honda parts cost a packet, he has already shelled out $260 for the Ignitor and obviously before buying a new coil which will run about the same money again we want to be sure we are buying the right parts.
What other Honda/Acura cars use the same Coil as the ITR? Civic VTEC? CRV? Accord? Lude? We aare going to get some parts from the junk yard tomorrow to try out before buying new OEM.
Give us all your thoughts guys really need soem help on this one.

i went through 2 distributors. both were the ignitors. Get one from Dist. King, lifetime warranty is a must.
