Default ITR vs. M3

Ok so here's the scenario....I'm sittin in class today and we're just chillin waitin for class to end and i start reading my usual Super Street/Import Tuner. Well anyways, I come across a Toyota Chaser and talk about how amazing the car is as well as the Supra. Well he says how much better German cars are i.e. BMW and Porsche. I'm not about to dispute the quality of a German made car nor will i ever. BTW we left Ferrari's and Lamborghini's out of the conversation well i think its obvious why. But the argument came up about his 97 BMW M3 and my 01 ITR. He said how much better quality and performance there is in the M3 and i fired back about the rarity and the car itself. I personally believe if they were equal on HP the stock ITR would out-handle a stock M3. Please someone set me straight if im wrong. Sorry for the rambling

The last hpde I was at that has M3s in it, I passed very easily, and they couldnt keep up.
Look at your local auto-x times, and you'll likely see the ITR is the faster car.

A 98 M3 and 00 ITR are both worth the same. You could even trade if you really would rather have one...

I think it's obvious too -- because neither of them are of German manufacture.

Oh, and great new topic

Do you mean rock it as in, own and drive it....or rock it as in, beat it in a race? I have owned both and the M3 is clearly the faster car, in all facets, end of story.

Next topic please...

now if he had a o4 m3 that would be a different story, the m3 would be a hell of alot faster and probably handle a grip better too(no pun intended) but im not a huge fan of the older m3's

Sorry I would own a M3 as well! The E46 is a great car but I have rolled E36s and E46s on auto-x. Doesnt mean they are not great cars. I have also been slaughter by those cars too. Depends on whos driving.

If you've got equal skill behind the wheel of both, M3 hands down. Both in stock form, whether you're talking about the 36 or 46, will destroy a Type R. I'm speaking of a road course of course.

Jason-
who loves his R, until he's racing door to door with a lightweight M3 at VIR full

This thread screams out LOCK ME!

(Edit goddamnit I gotta put in my 2 cents.. I have done more passing of M3's than being passed. Depends on the driver. Stock ITR versus "various" M3's.)

I was going down the Autbahn the other day and there was a Ferrari a older BMW M3 Maybe 98 and a 2001 ITR. I was all up on the M3 he was pretty well topped out at about 140 of course by the time the slow *** BMW moved over the Ferrari was history. I have on my stock intake a bunch of **** from shopping and the wife screaming in the car on this day too.

I think the owners of ITR's are more willing to "push" their cars than the typical M3 driver. Granted if both drivers were equally skilled and equally "pushing" the car, I'd have to give it to the M3 on any course. Still love the DC2R...but IMO, lets be realistic.

I blistered and chunked my front tires trying to keep up with an M3 LTW @ CMP earlier this year. It pulled much harder out of the sweepers - I could make up some ground in the high speed turns and under braking, but I couldnt catch him.

<--- waits for Euclid to chime in with a bunch of nonsensical posts
