Default crap... Compression results...

So i get my gsr, and i do compression tests on it after i pushed down to 4th, and it went into 2nd(my bad)

cyl 1 200
cyl 2 50
cyl 3 0
cyl 4 50

after i put oil in the cylinder, i got:

cyl 1 225
cyl 2 100
cyl 3 10
cyl 4 80

the odometer shows 197k. I think this thing is shot. needs rebuilding. Im considering getting a low mileage swap package since i have a bad 2nd synchro, and for the price i could just swap it all out.

Where can i get a package for a good price... Im not concerned in some 4000 buck ITR motor. I want a good gsr motor that will be decent to turbo.

how much would it cost me to have the engine rebuilt(machiene work done by a shop) and me put the pistons, crank, rods, and send the head off to get reworked?

Engine removal and installation wont be an issue, as ill do it all myself..

Tips very welcome here.

Are you sure you did the test right? Those are some really bad numbers.

Do a leak down, you might have bent some valves.

Honestly I dont know how good the integrity of the test is.
I borrowed a snap on compression tester from a guy at work.
its the 2 piece setup where you thread one end down into the sparkplug hole, and connect it at the top with a air compressor like fitting.

problem is, I did the test over and over, thinking i didnt do it right. I would take it out, thread it right back in hopeing something wasnt right.

Kept getting the same numbers. I poored oil in the spark plug holes, and sure enough the numbers changed across the board as i did this.

WTF is wrong here...

how much would it cost me to do a moderate rebuild to get the motor more reliable for turbo. Im leaning towards putting a used low mileage swap in for like 2grand or whatnot.

I feel that if i rebuilt the motor it would cost me more even if i did a good bit of the work.

Suggestions?, Places to call? could use some of this info

You might have the same problem as me. Valve tap. You can hear pinging noises on low RPM or on hills. I hope it's nothing too serious.

For all that rebuilding money, you could easily have a 300 WHP LS monster ...

Not especially - if you know what you're doing, you probably just blew the motor.
