Ive seen them rev to 9500 with the proper valvetrain.

Id rev that setup to 8200 easily.

i've had ppl say that they would never rev past 6 cuz thats what the b20 revs up to...and then ofcourse i hear other saying that they rev to 9 and have no problems... personally i wouldn't rev past 8200 cuz i think that you should at least sleeve the block before you raise that rev limiter.

This is true, the sleeves are weak, so I would sleeve it! Make sure to get ARP Rod bolts and possibly new rods! You have to remember those rods weren't meant to rev that high and they will stretch! You wouldn't rev a stock B16 rods to 9500rpms would you! I hope not, it would work for a while until one day it'll break!

Head has nothing to do with the block! I suggest new bearings and ARP rod bolts and you can rev to 8K no problem on stock bottom, but be careful! Dont mis-shift!

Oh and for a B20 block I would reenforce the walls somehow! Either sleeves, block guard, or stud kit from endyne!

I have a B20B stock block with JE 10.5:1 Pistons.. B18C1 stock head and I redline around 8200... My peak HP is around 7900 so I rarely shift above that. The motor runs great and I am pretty even with stock type-r's. I'm going to be doing my exhaust and getting cams soon so that should give me a little more! I/H/E Si's and GSRs cant touch me!

In all reality you shouldn't worry about how high your redline is. Just know where your peak horsepower will be and figure out the best shift points. My vtec engages at 5600RPMs and pulls hard to redline but I still shift at 7900 because I found that to be my best shift point.

The best thing I can tell you about this motor is that when I'm in 5th gear on the freeway and I start going up a hill I do not have to down shift.. Just push the pedal down a little more and my car speeds up quickly.. This car is a blast to drive down mountain roads and around curves.

What is done to your block? Also 7900 isnt really bad, but it still isnt that good since LS rods began to stretch at 7800! So like I said 7900 isnt that bad, just make sure you have ARP rod bolts!

Like bboyoxygen said, no point on going over 8200 RPMs with your setup. Going over that won´t make you any faster but will help you destroy your engine sooner.

i take mines to 7500 on a stock block and itr head.. just to be safe.. have not dyno yet to know if i make power to 8000 but most of the graph i have seen on a stock b20vtec the power drops off at 7200-7500.
