My car started doing this tonight , its hard to shift in to all the gears including down shifting. Is the clutch going bad , the car has 123000 on it.

 

if its hard to push into gear, yeah its probably your clutch. you can check your clutch fluid and also cleaning out the cap to the fluid reservoir. could be many other problems as well. maybe if you describe your symptoms better, h-t members can give you a better response

 

The car also almost stalled out at a light when the clutch was to the floor and in first gear , their is no slipping at all just going into gears.

yup. i had that problem. i was at a light, clutch pedal all the way down, and my car stalled. and then i couldnt push it into any gears afterwards..

anyways yeah your clutch. iuno. i say just stick with an oem one.

 

well if you mean by shifting into gear you are moving the stick into say 3rd from 2nd, and it just inst going in? Have you tried double shifting it and trying to get it into gear? if it isnt shifting it sounds like the tranny.

but i would check the transmission fluid first, and make sure it is not old and low.

 

yea i'd prolly check that tranny out. Usually the gears just slip when you need a new clutch. You should still be able to shift it into gears.

 

Yeah i think i will check the fluid in the tranny , how do i know how much is in there ? And also where do i drain and fill it up. also the fluid has never been changed i talked to the person i bought it from.

 

good chance you broke one of the diaphragm springs in the clutch. the reason you probably can not get it into gear is the clutch will not engage when you push the pedal, since the spring is broken nothing pushes it there. did it start with certain gears? or just all at once. btw prelude clutches go out easy. you're lucky to get to 123k on the original. for the money, go aftermarket, but get a good one. most are $220+ the stock one is about $340

 

Im still driving it and i get wheel hop when taking off in first not even reving it high the whole car shakes. And the car just got to 123k , i guess thats probaly it

 

maybe b/c the clutch if it engages at all will not slip, even with a broken spring.

holy hell, change it...i know for a fact my manual transmission fluid is supposed to be changed every 30k miles....


do that first before your tranny gets worse.
