Default just back from the Dyno b18c1

So after finding out that I got my car tuned with a faulty IAT sensor(** be cautious of this as the broken IAT dumped in more fuel, I got car tuned, got IAT repaired & caused Car to run real lean**), I managed to get a new one and take the car for a tune.

After a went in with 155hp/117tq and left with 174hp/124tq.

what do you guys think? power was steadily increasing all the way to redline 8200. Plan for the winter is to upgrade valve train and get S2S2 cams. what should I expect with this upgrade?

thanks,

YV

the one thing I found kinda weird was that the best VTEC point seemed to be around 4500. i was thinking that sink I had the S2 Mani it would be much higher.

cheers,

I have VTEC crossover at 4500 also, ITR with bolt ons. Could have moved it even lower but then I'd hit VTEC constantly when on the highway and that can't be good for fuel economy.

I think I could have squeezed a few more out with more cam tuning, but I just ran outta time. I hope some skunk2 S@ cams will help out more....

Those are some sweet numbers for what you've got. Just curious, but what is the IAT sensor, and how did you know it was broken?

The IAT is the intake air temp sensor. It reads the temp of the air in......anyone.....anyone.....anyone......the intake. If the IAT is reading crazy for whatever reason, then the mixture will normaly go rich. It's kinda like a built in safety for the motor. Same with a MAP sensor, if a wire breaks.....ask me how I know.....the motor will go heavy on the rich side. The computer will run on a preset program when the check engine light comes on that's also a little rich. It disregards the readings from the sensors and runs in safe mode.

i agree. while your picking up a set of s2s2 cams i would go ahead and pick up a set of titanium retainers with some stiffer springs atleast. if you want a little more flow with the cams and intake mani then give it a mild p&p and resurface. port match the head with your intake mani and header. then you should be fine clear up to 9000 rpm. just my thoughts.

thanks guys,

the car feels much better now. I do agree that the redline needs to go up 9k is the goal. I will be getting the s2s2 and springs/retainers in the fall.

Thanks again for the feedback!

I found the IAT issue when I had the Intake mani off.

cheers,

YV
