LS vs. ZC?! Choice and why
Definitely LS. My reasons?
1. More torque in stock form
2. More power if the motor is a 1992+
3. MUCH better aftermarket support
4. Sturdier overall construction of motor and rest of drivetrain
5. Free from smog hassles (if you live in CA or some other smog-strict area)
6. Possibility of adding a VTEC head
7. The possibility of buying a newer motor in better condition. The newest ZC is 1991 (1992 actually, but they are EXTREMELY rare). But the newest LS is 2001.

I agree go with the b18a1 or b18b1 and you won't regret it.

like everyone else said, go with the LS. I just recently bought an LS swapped car and it's a blast. The ZC motor is a good bang for your buck upgrade but in the end, you cannot find parts for it, and you have to like use some crazy decoding skill and internet search to find what part of a ZC comes off what B-series. Once you get the B-series in, you are open to swapping blocks/motor/heads and plenty of mods readily found for a cheap price whenever you would like, with the ZC your really stuck.

B series for sure, but make it a B18B. obd-1 not obd-0. The obd-0 can be programmed will hondata s100 or 200 for improved performance.
i used to run a zc, nice motor, but once i tried a friends B18A, "WOW" what a difference stock for stock. Amazing torque. I'm surprised this engine doesn't get more play than it does.
Also, the B18 has b better tranny, stronger rods, more broad powerband, and amazing upgradability. Cams and an intake manifold do wonders for such simple bolt ons.

I think you mean the other way around. The only pre-1992 ECU Hondata works with is the PR3/PW0.

Honestly I'm kind of torn. I like the fact that the ZC is a cheaper swap, but the LS has large aftermarket support. If I can find an LS swap that costs the same as a ZC I'll be all over it, but here in Louisiana, you might as well forget it.
LS! i have an ls and even though im going to build an ls vtec i still support ls non vtec its amazing you will **** yourself with the potential that motor has. I ate up 2 zc crxs we were both stock and i had a full tank of gas an another passanger he didnt it was no competition. Parts are alot easier to find and figure for another 1k you can make it a pretty nice ls vtec down the road good luckk.....
