Default Auto trans. shifting too early!

Question my auto transmission is shifting too early and then not down shifting when suppose too. Can this just mean I need a new ECU?? If anyone else has had these problems please let me know what it was. I just bought the 94 integra LS for $800, so if I have to invest a little it will be worth it. Thaks for any feedback..peace

p.s. I do plan on putting some serious money into but i just want to see whats wrong with it now..

1: its an auto--Its not going to shift at 7 grand.
2: Its an auto..Anyway..They're made for luxorious driving, so shifts are meant not to be noticed, and be very smooth. Your car does downshift, just not noticeably when you're braking. Try cruising at about 40 with the RPM's low, about 1.5 to 2 grand. Then floor it immediately--See that HEAVY jump in RPM's instantly? Thats a downshift.
