Paddle shift?? anyone know about it or tried it? i did my searching
Ok. I was thinking about this. I would like to have paddle shift on my car, nice for certain things. I was wondering if any company makes anything to do this, i know is would be expensive, but it still would be nice. I was thinking about this on my manual, it would be some kind of motor or selenoid to move the rod on the tranny back and forth, and rotate it, working off electric levers on your steering wheel. (no bars or linkage needed then) The only thing that would be hard to over come would be setting something up to make sure the car is in neutral before starting, and letting the driver know what gear he or she is in. You would still use your clutch to shift, but hit a button to move the shifter. I don't think it would be to hard for someone to invent this. i bet it could even be made so that you can use your stock shifter if you want, or use your paddles for auto cross. This is totally just a thought. Im open to people with different ideas, and im open to flames.
i mean, i have heard a lot of people who love it during racing, and some hate it during racing, but if it can be added like in talking about, you still have a clutch, so you can still hell-toe the car to drift around a corner. i mean, it would be hard to set it up using the clutch, cause what if you accidently hit the paddle while the clutch isn't in. it would have to be electronically set up so it has to see the clutch in to shift. and has to be controlled to only let it shift one gear at a time per paddle click. give me some feedback.
