The d16a will not produce 170hp in stock form. I would swap in a d16z6 or a zc. These are both fairly simple swaps and produce around 130hp.

A ZC actually IS a D16A. It's a D16A8/D16A9 to be specific.

not entirely. a d16a8/a9 is the EDM version, 1 is MPFI, 1 is carb'd.
ZC is a DOHC 1.6 d series motor found in Japan.
you can get all the right parts for a ZC thru the net or a honda dealer, just gotta get the parts from different cars, IE, the timing belt, from an early prelude.

Are you saying this from experience? I haven't had any trouble finding parts for my dohc zc. The only difficulty may be in determining which parts from which other engine work...but that's why there is HT and the internet...(lol). However, the parts are available.

try to find a header that is marketed for the DOHC ZC. You won't...you have to get the sohc d16 one and port match it to flow right. Just minor things like that make it tuffer to tune a ZC. The parts are out there...there's just less options, and less available. Can you bore out a ZC with a bolt on kit? You can say yes to that question with almost every other common swappable honda motor....so it is harder to find parts for it.
IMO...the best motor to swap into a ef/ed without going the b-series route would be a Z6 or a Y8. You'll get yourself in the high 14's with just a good intake, header, exhaust, and maybe a tuned/chipped ecu. Add a cam in the mix and you've got urself a nice motor. Not to mention that if you have 2 crx's, one with the zc swap, and one with the Z6/Y8 swap, they will both be very close from in a drag race. But, the Z6 will definitely pull away from a ZC on the highway (this is theorhetically speaking, if both cars had the identical setup) no flaming please.
If you have a little more mechanical experiece...build yourself a mini me. There are many ways to create a nice motor this way. These motors are better than a straight Z6 or Y8.
some good setup (the first code is the head, the second is the block)
Z6/B2
Z6/A6
Z6/B7
Y8/B2
Y8/A6
Y8/B7
Y8/Y7
They will give you a high 10:1 to near 11:1 compression and you will find yourself keeping up with b16 swapped rexes (as long as you are running an si tranny with the bolt on's i mentioned above)

You should have mentioned you had a 1st-gen CRX in the first place.
http://www.redpepperracing.com can help you out. http://www.hasport.com has mounts for a few different '84-87 Civic/CRX swap applications.

Man, you are going to get flamed hard. Don't post unless you know for sure what you are talking about.
I'll be nice since you're obviously a noob:
- "Si" is a trim level (just like CX, DX, LX, EX, SiR, Type-R, etc.), not a specific car. There are the Prelude Si, CRX Si, Civic Si, and in some countries, even an Accord Si.
- The CRX never came with a B16A engine in the United States. The '88-91 (2nd-gen) CRX SiR/1.6i-VT in the rest of the world had a B16A, but Honda never brought that car here. This guy doesn't even have an '88-91 CRX though, he has a 1st-gen CRX - which never came with a B16A anywhere.

OK so I was wrong about the CRX Si. I just don't see many of those around me, and if I do, they are in such bad condition that I couldn't tell them apart from all those other CRX Gen.1 beaters around Dallas.
