how to tell between trims?
hey, i was wondering how can i tell between the 3rd gen trims. i'm shopping around for a gsr and dont want to get ripped off cause i've heard of this happening
look at the VIN (assuming it hasn't been tampered with):
DC2= B18C (2 door)
DC4= B18B (2 door)
DB8= B18C (4 door)
DB7= B18B (4 door)
more info here

Yes, the above VIN way is the best to tell.
Other simple ways to tell (I know there are more, but these simple ways):
1) DOHC Vtec valve cover under hood with vtec solenoid and associated GSR parts such as the intake manifold, etc.
2) The redline on the GSR will be higher
3) All GSR's are manual transmissions
4) Most have leather interior, spoiler, and alloy rims
5) Sunroof, power options, cruise control, etc.
There are a lot more, but if they have all these, then it's pretty much a GSR.

#4........some gsr's came with an option of leather or clothe seats. The gsr's clothe seats are darker than the ls/gs/rs. The leather interior was in the LS and the LS special editions. One big thing to give it off if its a gsr or not is to check if there's a 3rd brake light in the rear hatch window. If there is no 3rd brakre light in that window, then its a GSR. All LS/RS/GS/Type R's have the 3rd brake light in the window.
Also, redline on the gsr tachometer will start at 8k. LS starts at 7k

^^ Yup, I know. Just saying the basic things. I know there are lots of details.
Note my LS had the same dark interior that the GSR's had. I believe up to a certain year, you were right. The newer ones had the same dark interior. I can post a picture, but it's not really relevant to this thread.
That's the hard thing about telling between the lower end trims. Based on the production year, little things changed like moldings, mirrors, taillights, etc. Blah!

HEHE..
My RS has a leather interior (lether/suede)
Of course it didn't come that way
just something to think about though, as someone could stick some type R seats in like say an RS........

mm seems that theory only works out of australia we have weird GSR's here aka what we call the VTi-R if anyone remembers i started a thread when i started asking about if mine was a GSR well im fairly certain that it is a GSR except for the 3rd brake light thing
tada 3rd brake light. well either way if you read the thread i did mention the vintage number and engine block codes in there
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=978857
i dont know if we actually got to the point but id assume its a GSR as that all GSR/VTi-R in australia seem to have that 3rd brake light (confirmed this with frends with VTi-R and on Carsales.com.au) but im not all to fussed about it as long as the engine is cool ^_^
hope that helps you at all in working out the difference in tegs

Just use the VIN to verify what the model is. Use that other stuff to verify that the car has what it's supposed to have, but don't use that other stuff as a determination of what model it is, go by the VIN only.
*edit* and if you find mis-matching VIN's on the car, run away quick.
