Default H22 swap wont start!! Need help with ECU.

Ok I tried searching but couldnt find something that would help me. Heres my scenerio. I have a 99 civic EX, a shop just swapped in a 97 usdm h22 5spd. THen it wouldnt start. They couldnt figure it out cuz everything checked out ok, then for the hell of it they plugged in an obII ecu and it started, ran like **** but started. So they gave me my car back like that cuz I had it scheduled to be painted. So that was like 4 months ago. THy're telling me that it would only start with a 96 usdm obII ecu or any JDM obII ecu, because these are the only ones without Immobolisers (spellcheck). If anyone can confirm this for me?? Cuz Ive tried 97, 98, usdm ecu's and it wont start...then I tried a 2000 itegra ecu and it started. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you need to get a 97 or up prelude ecu installed, but you need to take the 97+ prelude ecu to honda to be programmed accordingly with your prelude immobilizer before installing it....

once honda reprograms the ecu, your car should run very good.

one last note. if your swap did not include the immobilizer then a 97+ ecu will not work.
