OBD 1 turbo kit on OBD 2 car.
Hello, I have a OBD 1 turbo kit for the d16z5 92-95 Civic that I was thinking about putting on my OBD 97 EX. What kind of trouble would I run into? Any tips/pointers precautions? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
It will bolt up fine, but the fuel management stuff might need modding. What kit is it? I ran the GReddy Z6 kit on my Y8 without a problem. Just needed to rewire the blue box. But the manifold, DP, and everything else bolted up fine.
You shouldn't run into any problems.
The hardware will bolt up perfectly fine. If it's anything like my old kit, the quality will be superb.
You shouldn't have any problems hooking up e-Manage to your computer, either; it's a universal piggyback system, anyway. The fuel map GReddy gave the Z6 e-Manage should be okay on your Y8.

I'm really not sure. I've never installed an e-Manage unit, so I don't know. Have you checked GReddy's site? They might have a .PDF manual. If you know what color wires do what, you can use a V-AFC diagram to solder **** up.

you'll be all good with the GReddy kit and the EManage.
This is the 15g kit for the 92-95 correct?
My only suggestion would be to add in a custom coach or JRC front mount, get yourself your BOV of choice, and look into ditching that e-manage and moving into some other form of fuel management over time.
An OBD1 conversion harness with a socketed p28 and uberdata with some dsm 450cc injectors perhaps.

I run the 15g Greddy kit with the E-Manage on my 97 DX hatch. The only real modding I had to do to the car to make it fit up was drilling the hole where the EX has the airbox (in front of the pass side tire).

I like the E-manage. Its good both on and off boost, and the only problem I see with it is sometimes it has trouble finding a good idle (even though it was tuned very well by myself with a wideband 02 sensor and some software on my laptop to get the fuel trim correct).
