replaced clutch master/slave cylinders, have question!
I replaced my clutch master and slave cylinders tonight, i bled it as it said in the manual.....however, when i push the clutch pedal in (its firm) i get a squeeking noise coming from what sounds like the slave cylinder or tranny itself...does anyone know what this is? its definitely not the pedal, it doesnt come from inside the car...its definitely in the engine bay and the squeek only happens when i push the pedal in.....
also, how much does a dealer cost to adjust pedal height/freeplay? i cant seem to do it myself and wouldnt mind shelling out a couple bucks to have them do it since it seems pretty simple for them to do....thanks guys!

why cant i adjust the pedal? it says in my haynes manual that i can....??? I dont have the helms book yet, when you say clutch arm.....what do you mean? the clutch fork or the slave/release cylinder thing that actually touches that?
there is a little screw/nut right under your clutch pedal..you can tighten/loosen it to adjust out the free play of your pedal. You have to be a great contortorist to get down there however
i cannot for the life of me get to it without killing my back, i tried last night.....so im paying the dealer $30 to do it for me....to me, its worth it.
For that squeak......... did you grease the slave cylinder "plunger" with high-temp. grease before you installed it. It's the ball-end part that actuates the clutch. If it's not properly lubricated, it'll probably squeak.
Junglister,
hahhahha...j/k i did the exact same thing as you for my 98 GSR about 2 months ago...same EXACT problem....i bought the high temp grease from acura, freakin $14!!!! lubed the "plunger" ball joint on the end of the slave cylinder...and it still squeaks!!!
my squeaking is similar to yours...near the slave cylinder...i think Mista Bone is right, i think it's the arm...i think the arm connecting the slave to the tranny release bearing needs lubricating....but that's hard to get to. i'm planning to grease mine up, but you need a syringe(sp?) to access the arm...you have to go through that rubber cap/boot. and that high temp grease is SUPER thick...thicker than petroleum jelly...i think the arm needs grease near the release bearing...there's also a pivot ball the arm pivots on that'll need grease...forgot to mention i have the honda manual...it points these two places out....
i think to access these points...you may have to remove the fan in front of the slave cylinder....if i do this soon...i'll let you know if it works...if it doesn't work...i'm just gonna have to deal with the damn squeaking....
post if you fix it too!

all you have to do is put a huge glob of grease on the end of the slave cylinder that pushes the release fork in the tranny
then ease it thru the boot on the tranny...
just pry open the slit with your fingers and then jam the lubed rod in there to hit the right spot without leaving a gooey mess.
nice eh?
