Default engine swap: does obd matter besides smog reasons?

hey guys. im a new member. my question is that i was thinking about dropping a 91 B18B engine into my 98 civic hatch as im shooting for LS turbo. the person who is selling has everything to complete the swap. but then, i was reading something about OBD. i know what it is, but i was just wondering if a OBD conversion kit was required to complete the swap. The buddy who was gonna help me swap it in says that i shouldnt worry coz it doesnt matter. but im not sure. i dont want to do the swap and find out that something is wrong because i didnt buy this or that. i just want to make sure that i have everything i need before i start the swap. thanks.

yes, you have a obd2 car and the motor is a obd 0. you will need a conversion harness or convert the new motor to obd2. I would convert the car to obd0 if it were min. just get a new jumper harness/and ecu, and it will be done. there is a sponser on here that sells it for pretty cheap i think.
