Default Roebling Road

I am going to RR at the end of Sept and wanted to know what kind of track it was...such as lots of speed, hard on brakes...etc? Any help is appreciated

Tire eater. Fun flowing track though. It has not been repaved in this century and has patches of every kind of concrete and asphalt made in the last 20 years. Grip can be fun to find in some places.

it's rough on tires... no elevation changes, but a pretty quick course. there is a very fast sweeper coming on to the front straight! i didn't think it was too hard on brakes, but i've only been there once and was not up to speed by the end of the weekend. i was there for a pca driving event. bucha slow porsches kept getting in my way! (seriously!)

Driver side front tire gets chewed up by T1 and the final turn coming onto the front straight. Not too hard on brakes at all and you should have reasonably good weather (not too amazingly hot this time of year there). The back section can be alot of fun and as said before there are many different types of pavement throughout

For rwd cars, it's pretty close to heaven, but for a fwd car Roebling is hard the front tires, particularly the front left. The front straight is the only straight and the rest of course is made up of long sweeping turns. On a fwd car, these long turns constantly raise the front tires’ temperatures without giving them a chance to cool off until you reach the main straight again. There are a couple of fast long corners that can definitely give the impression that the car’s handling is looser than usual, so a setup adjustment may be beneficial for this track. On the other hand, this track is very easy on brakes. I like Roebling because there are only a few things you can hit if you go off, and the types of turns there are good to really feel and play with the car’s balance. I also can’t get enough of T1-T2 (my favorite section of the track), where after every time going through there it always seems like a little more speed could have been carried in a little deeper!

What they said. On paper, it looks like a snoozer but it's very challenging. The difference between an OK lap and a really fast one is LOTS of attention to detail on your line.

I worried TOO much about my outside front tire (VW GTI) and burned off the inside edge of the INSIDE tire, from too much static camber on that side - and an open diff, probably.

RR has the grippiest surface when wet that I have ever seen (and I'd like to think I'm a bit of a connoisseur of wetness).

More than one person will tell you this but LISTEN - If (when) you run out of road coming onto the straight, LET THE CAR RUN into the grass. Do not - DO NOT - try any heroics to keep it on the pavement. It will start to slide, you will correct, it will catch, and you'll end up whacking that BIG wall driver's right. I saw it twice when I was there.

I will be watching you very closely in this turn. I just can't get any faster through there.

So true. very easy to learn a line, but it takes a LONG time to master. This is one reason it never gets old driving this little track.

Another plus about RRR is a diff is not so important for just a lapping day. You can turn good lap times and not eat the tires much more then your would anyway without an LSD.

yep. that's the way to almost stuff it into the wall T8 is cool but definitely has a very high "pucker" factor if you get loose...

Actually please do! I would be very curious to know when and how much rear wheel brake lock up you can see from the car in that section. I just hope not to loop it in front of you while playing with the brakes.

Must... Resist... Very Very... Difficult...

What they all said. Keep the tires rotated and all will be fine. Get lazy for a couple of sessions and you might discover some cords showing.

Scott, who's been going there since 1997 and is still friggin lost on that tricky bastard.
