Video Highlights of Awesome Honda Challenge battle (Carpenter and Kofod)
Video from this weekend's Midwest NASA races. I battled Ian Carpenter all weekend. I got pole both days but by only 0.04 and 0.03. Ian and I raced nose to tail, door to door both days. We were never seperated by more than 2 car lengths the entire weekend.
However, as you will see in the video, I pulled the boneheaded move of the year and was DSQ'ed from Saturday's race. Sunday's race was completely clean and we exchanged the lead at least 5 times before Ian beat me over the finish line by a front fender.
In case you want to know more about the incident (punt) go to the other thread at: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=983403
Hats off to Ian Carpenter for his win Sunday and also hats off to his teammate Andrew Zimmermann for his win on Saturday.
As always "right click" or my bandwidth will get u up.

Mike,
It's a pretty fast car in theory (1000 pounds 150 hp) but the only people I see racing them or tracking them putz around the track.
The two that were at Beaverun were running in the 1:06 range which is slower than H1 cars. A Diasio should lap Beaverun in under a minute with ease. I hung with the two cars through the corners but then they would blast away down the straight.
I have yet to see one raced or driven fast. The fastest one at Summit in SCCA turned 1;22 and 1;21 which is slow when you consider the SPec Racer Ford track record is a 1:24 flat and that car weighs 700 pounds more and has 45 less hp.
It's a cool looking car and a good bang for the buck but you got no one to race with.
Regards,
Jon
PS: You commin' to Summit in two weeks?

FWIW, Todd mentioned that driven well they should be lapping Beaverun around the 1.01-1.02 range.
Nice vid. I'm jealous.

Jason....to me you're just an H1 car in disguise

Nice Video.
But you really need a new seat. I can't believe how much you are bouncing around. You'd be surprised at how much better it will be driving with a good seat.

that track is SUPER bumpy now, especially when compared to last year. you can even see on the track surface where they have tried grinding it down in several places; i guess it buckled up during the summer....
