y8 tranny with gm synchromesh questions (kinda long)
i got a 98 y8 tranny with about 40k off of ebay. the ad listed a slight grind going into 3rd at high rpm. so i put it in and its a pretty substantial grind even at low rpm. so i bought 2 quarts of gm synchromesh and put those in. since then ive gone about 100 miles or so and its getting better. especialy after i get off the highway after about 30 miles or so, theres no grind at all then. but when it cools back down its just a little scratch going in. my questions. will the synchromesh make this go away. also will replacing the clutch help at all. ive read that it takes about 5-600 miles for it to really start working. also, if id doesnt completely go away, will the slight 3rd grind hurt anything. any info is appreciated. the car does go to the track often, but not since the tranny as i was a little nervouse about it.

yeah its a band-aid, but that patch-up has helped my tranny out for the past 10k miles
