More likely than not, you will have rubbing issues with 225's. Also, it is going to depend what your offset is on how far the wheels will stick out or in. I had 225's on my 16" Mugen rims, but I don't have any pics at the moment.

17x8.5, offset 30mm, major fenderwork was nacessarey. You can put a 225 on you 16inchers when you use 16x8 with offset 38,
or a 16x7.5 with offset 30.

Auatrian, I note in your sig that you give the Toyo (T1S?) hands down? Wats'up with those tires? I thought they had a pretty good reputation....

I have 225/50/15 on my race wheels, but those aren't for street use, need a 5mm spacer to fit and frankly, look a bit goofy sticking out that far. They'd probably look a bit better on 16's, but for street use I really don't think that extra width is required. IMO

i had 225's on my other teg and was fine , the only reason it rubbed was becuase i had it lowered like 3 1/2 inches at all times. other than that i would have been fine when i adjusted it normally.

225/40s will fit fine on a 50mm offset rim.

Toyo Proxes T1 , it is a cheap *** tire when it comes to fast cornering and wet streets.

Good Year Eagle F1 is the kick *** tire. (like Potenzas, Dunlop SP9000, Michelin pilot sport

Fast + Cornering + Streets + Wet = Not a safe idea!

What are you doing driving fast, on the street, when it is wet?

I talk from experience. I had the Toyos and the F1. Not compareable. While the Good Year is a high performance rubber here in Europe, the Toyo one is a cheap tire for kids. no joke. When over here someone drives a Toyo we say look he can not afford a good rubber.

With the F1 I can drive fast in the corners when it is wet too. IT is a PLUS in SAFETY to have a good tire.

Did I mention that Toyo sucks?

Believe one time the austrian ITR, once you have a high performance tire on your car, you will newer change to the cheaper one. Hence, what is the best suspension, when the most important part (the tire) is crap. The tire is the thing which contacts the road, and therefore it should be the best brand!
