QUESTIONS CONCERNING THE RADIO CONTROLS ON THE S2000?
HEY EVERYONE! I'VE GOT A QUESTION REGARDING THE RADIO CONTROLS BY THE START BUTTON. DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE A SPECIAL ADAPTER IF YOU GET AN AFTER MARKET HEAD UNIT, LIKE AN ALPINE. I'M TRYING TO DO A LITTLE RESEARCH BEFORE I GET BACK FROM IRAQ. I'D LIKE TO KEEP THE CONTROLS EVEN THOUGH I PLAN ON SWITCHING TO AN ALPINE HEAD UNIT WHEN I GET BACK. ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.
Thanks for all the help. Definitely helped! Hope to be driving my s2000 soon.

yes there is such a device. it's about $100, however, it's only available to those who know the importance of caps-lock.

Yes, such an interface exists.
PAC makes a steering wheel interface that can be programmed to work with any remote-controlled aftermarket head unit.
When you purchase your Alpine, make sure it has remote control capability.
The part number is SWI-X, and it sells for around $69.99 to $79.99.
Whenever you install this device, there is an infrared blaster L.E.D. that has to be mounted in close proximity to the face of the aftermarket deck.
I mounted mine above the radio in the plastic housing surrounding the S2000 flap-face opening. Programming can be tricky, although not impossible. I recommend finding a friend to help you with the time-sequenced programming of this device.
Good luck!
