Wondering if a tyranny without lsd is quicker than one with equipped, in a drag race? For a b20/vtec setup, what kind of gearing is recommended? 4.9 FD or 5.1 FD or any recommendations?

Unless you weld the differential you will be slower launching without an LSD. That's the whole point of an LSD to MAXIMIZE TRACTION

 

A tyranny without a LSD huh? I suppose an autocratic regime could survive without d-Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, but I think eventually, somebody is bound to drop SOMETHING. Look at all the coca-leaf addicts in Cambodia; the Pol Pot led them to something like crack, although I imagine that given the opportunity, they would have tried a psychodelic over that depressing addicitive leaf.

Without LSD, I dunno. It just seems so crazy over here. LSD will open your mind, which probably isn't the most desirable thing for a regime centered around suffereing and repression. Hmm, you raise an interesting question indeed.

As far as your post, the LSD will help the launch, and help keep traction, so LSD is quicker. Though not thicker or quilted like Bounty

Hrmm, well I think he *might* be asking if a LSD eqipped tranny robs power. I really dont know, but even if it did, a couple of HP is negligeable, considering the fact the LSD will give a sigificant hole shot off the line (compared to an open diff)

a tranny with like like a quaiffe is worth 2 tenths in the quarter easy. you have both wheels fighting for traction as opposed to one peg leg.

all out drag racers (RACING ONLY) use spools. Optimally that is the best.

 

Race car witout lsd huh amazing.car aint gun be as fast it could be wit LSD. grip betta plus beta burn out ask anyone. All the race cars got one form of LSD or another.

Think of it as posi-traction for your front wheels. BELIEVE me it helps. I know from way back in my Chevy days (about 10 yrs ago).

 

Thanks for enlightening me guys, but what about the final drive? My tyranny seems to be giving me some crap noises now. My mechanic suspects its the tyranny, but couldn't confirm which part as he haven't disassembled it yet. Plans to do some upgrade in this area. Recommendations, guys ???

Think of an lsd as your arms.

Now... if you were hanging from a cliff... would you want to use both to hold on or just one???

is there any difference between the EK4 & ITR 96' tranny, such as ratios between gears, shortness of shift and performance. My ITR tranny just kicked the bucket. Found an EK4 tranny for sale. Should i replace my tranny with this one???

found in the EK4 sports a smaller ring gear.... not sure why Honda made it this way...could be because the 18Cs produce more torque and hence require something bigger to distribute the power....ie. it won't break....

but then again, the 16B uses the S80/Y80 ring gear.....so I dunno..whatever....

I believe the EK4 has a shorter 1st gear.... if your EK4 mission has a factory LSD...then you won' t be giving up much in terms of ITR like performance....

otherwise, I would highly recommend finding an LSD.....

 

what about gear ratios between 1,2,3,4,5 gears? Are both ek4(4.4FD without LSD) and itr(4.4FD with LSD) the same? I'm planning to plant my itr lsd into the ek4 tranny.
