Default JDM ITR build - ITB potential

ive been working on my own car for the past two years but now im looking into finally doing some internal work.

98 JDM B18C-R

my hatch is a road course car so a good midrange and top end is ideal. i already made a list of things for the valvetrain and cams. also will be purchasing hondata to tune it all.

toda spec C cams
toda dual valvesprings
toda cam gears
skunk2 titnium retainers
skunk2 valves ( not sure yet )

now i already know that the spec Cs require high compression... 12.6-13.0:1 ???

CTR pistons ( OS or ST )
toda .6mm head gasket
(anything else needed??)

now the real question, would it be smart to run ITBs as well. been doing a lot of research on the TWMinduction.com ITBs. look real good and have seen some good gains from them. any suggestions on size either ( 51mm??) ? hopefully hondata on my already chipped p28 will be sufficient enough tune all of this.

again this is just the plan for the motor work, just want some suggestions on the ITBs and the internal work. anything im missing. really need help cuz i've never worked on the internals before but i have high mechanical knowledge. if you want current mods on the car... check out my "garage" in my signature

thanks in advance!!

tony

Toda C's are going to want a higher compression ratio, probably more like 14:1. If your set on using ctr pistons than Toda B's would be ok. The toda .6 mm headgasket is going to lower your compression ration too, so id get a headgasket with the stock thickness.

i only picked the toda .6mm head gasket cuzits stock size and referring to their site... it raised it to 12.3. what size head gasket would i want then??

if i were to run spec Cs, should i consider running the toda forged pistons???

I'm sorry you are right, .6 mm is stock. Your cr will be around 12:1 which would be okay with Toda B's. If you have the money, I would get forged pistons.

if the .6mm gasket was stock... then that alone wont help raise the CR. but if that raises it to 12.3 then if i get CTR pistons would that raise it to 13.0CR?

would the valves also help raise compression if i leave the ports the same size? ie. high compression valves

With the ctr pistons, and stock thickness headgasket, you will be at 12:1. Flat face valves would get you at around 12.3:1. Omnipower and skunk2 both make flat faced valves.

12:1 is plenty good enough for toda c's.

Enough for decent peak numbers and a not so good powerband.

with ctr pistons i wouldnt trust anyone of those numbers, your compression could be a lot higher than 12.0/1
i was going to go with that same setup in my type r, but i was told by some people that know there stuff about hondas that the compression could be anywhere from 12.6/1 - 12.9/1.
so i would seriously look into it before you go out and do anything.

My powerband is o.k. with Toda 'C's and less than 12:1 compression

This is with an intake manifold and throttle body, not ITB's.
