OK a quick question HOW DO I TELL IF MY MOTOR IS A B16 SIRII. The block says B16A but that is all now how do I tell what it came from or what the hp is??

 

go to hybrid garage and they have a how to tell in there. pretty easy.

 

good question I was under the impression that the sir II had a hydro tranny, but i might be wrong. Even if it is a hydro tranny theres only like a 10 hp difference in the engines

 

Check the Head stamp. Should be the furthest number to the left on the front of the cylinder head. 92+ = SirII. Distributor: grey plugs or whitish plugs? Grey plugs mean OBD-I, thus an SirII. Is the Dohc lettering smaller than the VTEC lettering? If so, it's an SirII (provided none of this stuff has been changed, of course).

 

One way is to check the valve cover. It's not the most reliable way cuz you can easily switch covers but its the easiest. The 2nd Gen B16A has VTEC in large and dohc in small print. Vice versa for the 1st gen B16A.
