Default intake mani problems! check engine light?! throwing codes! help!

so a friend and i removed the intake mani to do port and polish it, and when we put it back on and hooked up all the hoses a couple of problems occured:

problem #1:
my check engine light came on (we later disconnected the battery, reset the ECU and it went away)

problem #2:
while removing the intake mani, a lot of coolant spilled out, so after we put the mani back on, we filled it back up with some water, and we drove around to see if it would heat up (because it had heated up earlier)... when we were parked, we noticed it would leak a lot of water underneath the passenger side, but we couldnt see where it was coming from because none of the hoses in the engine bay were wet and we had no idea where the water/ coolant was coming from (could it be that we over-filled the radiator and it was just excess water coming out?)

problem#3:
i was taking the car for a spin, and the car was coming up to a stop sign, started sputtering and died (i kept rolling to the stop sign)... me and my friend stopped and i tried to start the engine... when trying, it didnt sound like it was turning over at all... so he got out, i popped the hood and he gave it some gas with the throttle as i turned the key and after a few revs it started up no problem, (although it still kind of sputtered very subtly on the way home)... im wondering, could it be that the car needs more gas for the air/fuel mixture, because of the increased air flow (the intake mani is ported)...

im almost positive that the water from underneath the car is excess water, because it eventually stops... and the check engine light is gone, so im not so worried about that, im worried about the sputtering... has anybody ever removed an intake manifold or ported one and had this problem? because i would think if theres mroe air, you would need mroe fuel for the normal combustion, am i wrong? someone please help! thanks

oh, and my check engine light flashed 4 times, what might that mean??

first off did u get a new mani. gasket and t body gasket? if so make sure they were the right ones. i had a problem like that when i installed my skunk2 mani on my si. porting your mani wont make your car run bad due to lack of fuel. your ecu will compensate for that additional air flow. what rpm does your car idle at? did u tighten the mani correctly? check to make sure nothing got maybe accidently unplugged or loosened. if the car idles ok but misses slightly the mani gasket could be leaking by the coolant passage letting some coolant into cyl. number 4 causing the miss concern. if your check engine light is flashing while driving then your car is missfiring badly. if your car is 96 or newer then pop off your right side front kick panel where the ecu is. there should be a cover and a connector with two wire going to it but not connected to anything. turn off your ignition and connect the two with a paper clip then turn on your ignition and watch the check egine light count the long flashes as the first # and the short flases as the second. ei = 5 long and 2 short is a code 52 if you do this let me know the code and ill let u know what it is.
