Default obd 2 to obd 1

i have a 00 si and i am going to go to a obd1 set up, my question is if a check engine light comes on or i what to read live data can i still use a obd 2 scanner and plug it in at the DLC port, and my other question id i have a vafc will i need to rewire when i go to a obd 1 computer? thanks for any input.

If you convert to OBD-1, the OBD-2 scanner won't work. You can check your CELs the traditional way by making your CEL light on your cluster blink by jumping the SCS (service check connector) plug underneath your glovebox.

yup there is no over way because once your car is ob1 you would have to rewire the DLC port with one off of a ob1 car...its easier to just go off the service connector.
