has anyone seen this?
the other day i saw a teg with its passenger side high beam out and the intake cone filter in its place on the inside of the hood. is there ANY benefit from this? the guy said " its ram air yo" but i just dont know

good luck when it rains. i was thinking about setting up my intake like that but the thought the thought of driving down the highway with an inch of rain bouncing off my hood and windshield led me to place it behind the turn signal.
sorry to dissapoint everyone, but the benefits are very minimal. Ram Air is a joke anyway since you have to go over 400 MPH to actually shove enough air into the intake to make a difference in pressure.
Cold air intake is good because the air sucked in is a lot cooler then from the engine bay
, but the longer piping isn't good for top end power.
Short air intake is good becuase the pipe distance is short making for good top end power
, but the air is taken from the engine bay which has slightly higher temps (the engine bay gets a little cooler when moving, but when stopped it's hot again).
You can now see the advantage of pulling out the headlight and sticking the air filter their. it's cold AND short travelling, but forget about "shoving" air into the intake.....it's just not physically possible (goddamn physics always getting in the way
).

CAI and SRI are just for different powerbands.. all the tests show abient air temp under the hood while driving is the same but they will have different heatsoak since one is longer it will disperse heat easier

yeah thats a lot of things to go bad to consider it a coincidense!!! i also hate loosing money!!! lost almost $300 on ebay ******* theives!!! these days they dont have to steal your car all they have to do is **** you over on the internet. my deepest condolances!! GOOD LUCK!!!!
Dont do the headlight blackout thing.
I went to a Honda-tech meet at shine street about a year ago, and the Hondata guy was there giving us a seminar about various mods, and this subject came up. He said because of the shape of the bumper/headlights, putting a hole there with a intake tube wont do much since the air that is flowing in that area is going OVER the headlight/bumper, directing air up and over, away from the hole. It's better to put the tube where the mouth opening is in the bumper. Sorry if it sounds confusing, if you want more info contact Hondata... Im sure others that went to the meet remember him talking about this.
BTW about that ram air thing, i forget where i read this from, but i heard if you had a tube with a airhorn at the end of it, at 70 mph it creates the equivilent of 1psi of boost...dunno if thats true, but whatever
