Help - Throttle body or TPS problem or something else?
OK here's the scoop. 1992 Si with an H22a4 motor. The car throws codes for O2 sensor, EGR valve and fuel delivery system. I've changed the O2 sensor, removed and cleaned the EGR, changed the fuel filter, removed the CAT for a test drive to see if it still threw the codes. It runs ok when cold and as soon as it hits normal engine temp, the CEL comes on and it starts missing. You can shut the engine off, restart (now it's warm) and it will run fine for a few minutes until the CEL comes on again. My mechanic has ck'd the vacuum lines, tested "everything he can think to test except the pressure from the fuel pump" and the only thing he has come up with is that the voltage is "all over the place" from the TPS. Honda built them into the throttle body with tamperproof screws/bolts, so you have to buy the whole throttle body at a whopping $700 if you get it from Honda. Any thoughts on what my problem might be? Anyone know where I can find a throttle body at a reasonable price? Help!!!
buy a tps and take off the t body. then get a dremal and make those tamper proof screws into flat tip screws!!! it works. dont forget the adjust the tps tospecs in the helms manuel.
